Spring is coming! But what do we do in the meantime? I asked friends from all over Hamilton County how they spend their time here in the winter months. I was pleased to find that no matter how cold, most residents still make their way outdoors! We are fortunate to have so much to do in the county in every season. Favored, winter outdoor activities include playing in the snow of course! Friends enjoy tubing at Strawtown Koteewi Park, sledding at the county’s Cool Creek Park and Fishers Flat Creek Fork Park, and ice skating at Carmel Christkindlmarkt and Westfield’s Grand Junction Plaza. The outdoor fun in the colder temps also includes utilizing our vast trail system which keeps us connected and active. Members from Carmel Runners Club, Westfield Running Club, and Fishers Running Club schedule weekly walk/runs on the Nickel Plate Trail, Monon Trail, and Midland Trace Trail. Many of them shared with me their appreciation for how quickly our municipalities clear the trails during snow events. Two Noblesville resident shared that they specifically enjoy walking their fur babies on the beautiful trail near Potter’s Covered Bridge.
If getting cozy with a good book during the winter months is your thing, Kayla Arnold, HCLA Class of 2020, suggests spending time in Turn the Page Bookstore (Westfield) and Sarah Buckner, HCLA Class of 2021, suggests Chapter Book Lounge (Noblesville). For coffee lovers, you are in luck! Favorites include Rivet Coffee Bar and Roastery (Westfield), Bica Cafe (Noblesville), Remnant Coffee (Arcadia), and MOTW Coffee and Pastries (Fishers and Carmel locations). Other indoor favorites, outside of the home, include seeing a show at Carmel Flix Brewhouse, watching a holiday play at Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre (Carmel), and enjoying movies at Emagine Noblesville where you can also enjoy some shopping at Hamilton Town Center. Maybe you prefer to create your own art rather than watch it? Carmel Arts District, Nickel Plate District in Fishers and Noblesville Cultural Arts District has you covered with activities in the winter months. Noblesville Creates just hosted another Comic Book in a Day in January and was a huge success.
Hamilton County has so much more to offer to get you through the winter than I have listed here. Take full advantage of the information Hamilton County Tourism provides on their “Things to Do” web page to learn more about the above ideas and others: https://www.visithamiltoncounty.com/things-to-do/
