HCLA BackStage Pass | North End Tour
Wednesday, May 21 | 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm | North End | Carmel
Join HCLA as we explore North End, Carmel’s newest mixed residential community. Hear firsthand from residents and learn about the innovative housing model pioneered by Old Town. This approach integrates individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities into a broader community by providing attainable housing units within a mixed-income setting.
In addition to touring the residential space North End offers, we will also visit local businesses that employ and support the community, and briefly tour Fields Market Garden, a nonprofit urban farm rooted in partnership and purpose.
This is a behind-the-scenes look at how leadership, collaboration, and thoughtful development can transform a city block into a thriving, integrated community.
Developed by Old Town Companies in partnership with RDOOR, North End includes 168 apartments—40 reserved for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)—alongside for-sale homes, greenspace, an urban market garden, walking paths, a pool, and the on-site Freeland’s restaurant, which sources ingredients directly from Fields Market Garden. With its headquarters on-site, Old Town is deeply engaged in fostering an inclusive, connected neighborhood.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as this tour will be a walking tour of the development.
HCLA BackStage Pass tickets are $10.00 for this event and can be paid via credit card at the link below. If you are interested in paying by check or cash, please reach out to HCLA staff at engagement@hcla.net.
