Libraries in the 21st Century
I have the pleasure of serving as the President of the Board of Directors of the Westfield Library Foundation, whose mission is to provide financial and community support for the Westfield Washington Public Library. We truly believe that libraries serve as a vital function in the health of our communities – they are active, inclusive spaces that foster learning, support, and engagement.
If you have not visited the new Westfield Washington Public Library facility, which opened in June 2024 and is located at 17400 Westfield Boulevard in Westfield, I could not recommend it more highly. More than just a place to check out books, this modern facility is redefining what it means to be a community hub. There are program rooms for events and group activities, dedicated children’s areas with interactive elements, study rooms and cozy seating, and even a Rivet Coffee Bar & Roastery just inside the main entrance. We are also looking forward to our Cowboy Carnival fundraiser coming up on November 1, 2025.
The great news about Hamilton County is that we have similar facilities no matter where you live and work. Here are some locations of libraries that may be closer to you:

Hamilton County residents have access to even more through interlibrary loan (ILL) systems. These services allow patrons to borrow materials not available at their local branch. Whether this be through the Indiana State Library’s Indiana Share or online services like Hoopla or Libby, you should be able to find the collection that you are seeking.
Take a look, it’s in a book…
