**NEW** Body Safety Volunteer
Organization: Chaucie's Place
Date submitted: 02/07/2012
Description of Position: Chaucie's Place has trained nearly 30,000 elementary and preschool children on keeping their bodies safe since they opened their doors in 2001. Their Body Safety program teaches children about inappropriate touches, that abuse is never their fault, and to tell a trusted adult when they feel uncomfortable about any touches they receive. Children are also taught the proper names and locations of their body parts through the use of anatomical dolls, as well as when it is okay and not okay for private body parts to be touched. The approach of this 30-minute interactive presentation is much like teaching children safety rules for crossing the street, wearing a seat belt or running in the hall with scissors. Body Safety is like other safety rules, it teaches children how to keep their bodies safe. Body Safety presentations are typically scheduled on Monday and Wednesday morning so that our volunteers can plan their schedules accordingly. As a volunteer, you can present as much or as little as you wish per month.
